Lethal Weapon is one of the best movie series ever made. Full of fight scenes, explosions and touches of humor in between all the action. Basically, it’s a guy classic. After 4 movies, with the last one coming out in 1998, the series seemed to reach its conclusion. But can a good thing really die? Not in Hollywood. What was once old will become new again. At least that’s the case with this great concept. Soon this great title will be on a TV screen near you, starting from the beginning.
Rebooting the hit movie franchise of the same name, “Lethal Weapon” follows Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh as they combat crime in Los Angeles. Following the death of his wife and their unborn child, ex-Navy SEAL Riggs moves to California in search of a new start at the LAPD, where he is paired up with Murtaugh, who recently suffered a near-fatal heart attack. The newcomer’s tendency to look before he leaps clashes with Murtaugh’s more considered technique, but when they look past the surface friction, they see the partnership might give them what they need.
After seeing the pilot episode I can tell you that this show is bound to surprise. I mean that in a good way. Lethal Weapon the TV show honors the Lethal Weapon movies by staying faithful to what made them successful. Great action with comedic moments perfectly weaved in help add depth to 2 characters that otherwise would be caricatures of the originals. They’ve been able to set up a very nice foundation for what are sure to be seasons of character development.
This might just be the perfect TV show for guys. If you don’t believe me, check it out for yourself. The only real question left is, how long before another network spits out a Die Hard series to compete?
